Public Notice: Utility Assistance Fair and 2026 Operational Updates

Today’s Featured Event: Utility Assistance Resource Fair
Cleveland City Council is hosting a Utility Assistance Resource Fair today, Saturday, March 7, 2026. This event is designed to connect residents with representatives from various utility providers and social service agencies. Attendees can receive direct guidance on managing heating, water, and electric costs, as well as enrollment assistance for various payment programs and financial aid grants. The fair serves as a critical outreach effort following the conclusion of the 2026 city budget hearings, focusing on immediate community support for household stability.
Health Advisory: Ongoing Measles Exposure Monitoring
The Cleveland Department of Public Health and the Ohio Department of Health continue to advise residents of a regional measles exposure alert. This advisory stem from a potential exposure window identified at John Glenn International Airport on February 18. Health officials recommend that any individuals who were present at the airport during that time and are not fully vaccinated monitor themselves for symptoms through March 11, 2026. Symptoms typically include high fever, cough, and a characteristic rash. Residents are encouraged to contact their primary care physician if symptoms develop rather than visiting emergency rooms without prior notice.
Public Service Announcement: Revised Parking Enforcement
As of March 2026, the City of Cleveland has fully transitioned to a modernized on-street parking system. Residents and visitors are reminded that the previous standard of free weekend parking in high-demand districts has ended. In Downtown Cleveland and Ohio City, parking enforcement is now active from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. today. Standardized base rates of $1.50 per hour are in effect, with a four-hour maximum limit in many zones. The city utilizes the ParkMobile app for all transactions as coin-operated meters continue to be phased out. These changes are part of a broader initiative to improve parking turnover and support the local business economy.
Infrastructure and Roadway Alerts
The Department of Public Service and the Ohio Department of Transportation have several active projects affecting travel this weekend:
- Ward 8 Pipeline Replacement: Work continues on the Enbridge Gas pipeline replacement project at East 91st Street and Stewart. Temporary road caps and sidewalks are in place; permanent restoration is expected later this spring.
- I-90 Traffic Pattern: A bi-directional traffic pattern remains in effect on I-90 eastbound between Wagar Road and West 73rd Street. All through-traffic is advised to stay in the left two lanes.
- I-490 Ramp Closure: The ramp from West 7th Street south to I-490 east remains closed for pavement replacement through July 2026.
Public Review: 2026-2030 Consolidated Plan
The Department of Community Development has announced that a draft of the 2026-2030 Five-Year Consolidated Plan will be available for public review beginning tomorrow, March 8, 2026. This plan dictates the use of federal grants for housing and community development. Physical copies will be available at Cleveland City Hall and the Cleveland Public Administration Library. The public is invited to provide comments on the draft through the upcoming public hearings scheduled for later this month.
