Cleveland police investigate overnight East Side shooting that left 52-year-old man seriously injured, suspect arrested
Shooting reported near E. 71st Street and Indiana Avenue late Monday
Cleveland police are investigating an overnight shooting on the city’s East Side that left a 52-year-old man seriously injured and resulted in an arrest.
The shooting was reported at about 11:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, 2026, near the intersection of East 71st Street and Indiana Avenue, in the Slavic Village neighborhood. First responders located a man with a gunshot wound and transported him to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition.
Police describe argument before gunfire; charges pending
Investigators said the victim had been arguing with a 67-year-old man shortly before the shooting. Police took the 67-year-old into custody at the scene. As of Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, officials said charges were pending while the investigation continued.
Police have not publicly released the victim’s name. No additional injuries were reported in connection with the Slavic Village shooting.
Second overnight shooting also investigated in Fairfax
Police said they were also investigating a second, separate shooting reported a few hours later. Officers were called around 2 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2026, to the area of East 84th Street and Quincy Avenue in the Fairfax neighborhood.
In that case, a 35-year-old man was critically injured and transported to University Hospitals. Authorities have not released details about what led up to the Fairfax shooting, and no arrest information was announced in the initial report.
