Official City Bulletin: Transportation Hearings and Community Wellness Updates

Transportation and Mobility Committee Public Hearing
The Cleveland City Council Transportation and Mobility Committee is convening a critical session today, Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM. The meeting is being held in the Mercedes Cotner Committee Room 217 at City Hall. In addition to regular legislative discussions, the committee has scheduled a series of high-priority hearings to address the long-term future of Burke Lakefront Airport. Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to follow the proceedings via the city’s official broadcast channels, including TV20 and the council’s online streaming platforms.
Implementation of Tanisha’s Law and Crisis Response
Following a unanimous vote by the City Council earlier this week, the city has officially moved forward with the implementation of Tanisha’s Law. This landmark legislation establishes a new Bureau of Community Crisis Response within the Cleveland Division of Emergency Medical Services. The bureau is designed to transform the city's approach to mental health emergencies by deploying unarmed social workers and mental health professionals to certain crisis calls rather than traditional law enforcement. This initiative aims to enhance public safety and ensure residents in distress receive appropriate clinical support.
Public Comment Period: Electric Vehicle Infrastructure
The City of Cleveland, in partnership with the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency, is seeking public input on the proposed installation of new electric vehicle charging stations. The project targets the Michael Zone and Sterling Recreation Centers, with plans to install four Level 2 chargers at each location. The public comment period remains open through Friday, February 6, 2026. Community members are invited to review the site proposals and submit their feedback to the Department of Public Works or via the designated online portal to assist in final planning and minimizing neighborhood disruption.
Infrastructure Updates and Public Bids
The Port of Cleveland has announced the successful completion of the $65 million Irishtown Bend hillside stabilization project. This milestone prevents potential river traffic disruptions and paves the way for the Cleveland Metroparks to begin the development of a 25-acre public park at the site, with leadership transitioning on February 13. Additionally, the Division of Water has issued an invitation to bid for domestic service saddles under Ordinance 532-2025. A non-mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, February 5, 2026, at 10:00 AM via Microsoft Teams.
Winter Preparedness and Resource Reminder
In light of recent winter weather conditions, the city reminds all residents to review current Winter Storm Preparedness resources. Information regarding snow removal priorities, warming center locations, and emergency contact numbers for the Division of Streets is available through the city’s official website and the 311 service center.
