Cleveland Public Notice: Utility Meetings, Water Advisories, and Service Updates

Public Utility Pre-Bid Meetings Scheduled
The City of Cleveland Department of Public Utilities has issued notices for two non-mandatory pre-bid meetings taking place today, Thursday, January 29, 2026. These meetings are conducted via Microsoft Teams to discuss upcoming municipal contracts and service requirements.
- Chemical Supplies (File 4-26): A session regarding the purchase of Liquid Alum and Alum Blend Coagulants for the Division of Water is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. This contract is authorized under Ordinance 129.24.
- Infrastructure Maintenance (File 7-26): A meeting concerning tank and tower inspection, cleaning, and maintenance will be held at 2:30 p.m. This initiative is authorized by Ordinance 181.101.
Prospective vendors and interested parties may join these sessions using the designated dial-in numbers and access codes provided in the official invitations to bid. Sealed bids for both projects are currently set to be opened on February 19, 2026.
Active Boil Water Advisory for Regional Customers
Cleveland Water remains under a precautionary boil water advisory for customers located in Brunswick and a specific portion of Strongsville near Pearl Road and Boston Road. The advisory follows multiple water main breaks reported earlier this week. While there is currently no evidence of contamination, the department advises residents in the impacted area to flush and boil all water used for drinking, cooking, and oral hygiene for at least three minutes. This advisory will remain in effect until laboratory results confirm the water is safe and the notice is officially lifted.
City Council Legislative Update
Following the cancellation of the regular City Council meeting on Monday, January 26, due to severe winter weather and a citywide snow emergency, officials have confirmed that the next full session is scheduled for Monday, February 2, 2026. Individuals who were previously registered for public comment slots during the cancelled meeting will retain their positions for the upcoming session. City Hall has resumed standard operations after the storm, though residents are encouraged to continue monitoring official channels for any weather-related delays in non-emergency services.
Notice to Landlords: Lead Safe Program Closure
The Lead Safe Cleveland Coalition has announced that the incentive program providing rebates to landlords for lead-safe certifications is nearing its conclusion. Due to the exhaustion of federal recovery funds, the $750 to $1,000 rebates will soon no longer be available. Landlords with properties requiring certification are urged to complete their applications immediately to secure remaining funds. The program has successfully distributed nearly $9 million in incentives since its inception to help reduce lead exposure in local housing.
Public Health Reminder
Local health officials continue to monitor a significant rise in seasonal flu cases across Northeast Ohio. The Cleveland Clinic has identified a highly contagious H3N2 strain as the primary driver of current infections. Residents are advised to practice standard preventative measures and consult healthcare providers if they experience severe respiratory symptoms, particularly those in high-risk groups such as the elderly or immunocompromised.
