Winter Storm Warning and Snow Emergency Parking Ban

The City of Cleveland is currently under a Winter Storm Warning effective through Monday morning, January 26, 2026. Forecasts indicate total snow accumulations between 8 and 14 inches. In response, a Snow Emergency Parking Ban has been declared for the city, remaining in effect until 7:00 PM on Monday. To assist with snow removal operations and ensure emergency vehicle access, the following rules apply:

  • Parking is strictly prohibited on designated Snow Emergency streets (marked by red and white signs).
  • Residents who lack off-street parking are required to park exclusively on the even-numbered side of the street.
  • Motorists are encouraged to avoid all non-essential travel. Vehicles found in violation of the ban may be ticketed and towed at the owner's expense.

Warming Centers and City Facility Closures

To assist residents during this period of extreme cold and heavy snowfall, the City has activated several recreation centers to serve as warming centers. On Sunday, January 25, the following locations will be open from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM:

  • Michael Zone Recreation Center: 6301 Lorain Ave.
  • EJ Kovacic Recreation Center: 6250 St. Clair Ave.
  • Zelma George Recreation Center: 3155 Martin L. King Blvd.
  • Collinwood Recreation Center: 16300 Lakeshore Blvd.

Please be advised that Cleveland City Hall and the Public Auditorium will be closed on Monday, January 26, due to the weather conditions. Consequently, the Cleveland City Council meeting originally scheduled for Monday evening has been cancelled and rescheduled for February 2, 2026.

Public Health and Utility Advisories

Cleveland Water has issued a precautionary Boil Water Advisory for customers in Brunswick and small portions of Strongsville near the border of Pearl Road and Boston Road. Due to multiple water main breaks, residents in these areas should use bottled water or boil their tap water for at least three minutes before consumption, making ice, or brushing teeth. This advisory remains in effect until further notice.

Additionally, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) has activated its Winterization Plan. Commuters should anticipate delays on bus and rail lines, including the Red, Blue, and Green Lines, as snow trains and plow crews work to clear tracks and facilities.

Public Comment Opportunity: EV Charging Stations

The City of Cleveland, in partnership with NOACA, is seeking public input on the proposed installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Michael Zone and Sterling Recreation Centers. The project includes the installation of four Level 2 chargers at each site. The public comment period remains open through February 6, 2026. Residents are encouraged to submit feedback via the online form provided by the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency.
